Lamine Yamal: "Reaching Messi's Level is Impossible, I Want to Be Myself

Barcelona and Spain national team player Lamine Yamal considered reaching the level of Argentine Lionel Messi to be "impossible."

In an interview with the Spanish television station "Antena 3," Yamal said when asked about the reports and comparisons linking him to the Qatar World Cup winner: "I love being compared to the greatest player in football history, but I want to be myself."

He added: "Reaching Messi's level is impossible."

Yamal had appeared in a photo session in 2007 with Messi when he was just six months old, after winning a competition, where he posed with the former Barcelona star.

Yamal said: "He passed on some of his advice to me... I still have a lot to offer."

Yamal went on to express his desire to stay at Barcelona for his entire career, saying: "I hope I never have to leave. I want to become a legend."
