Lionel Messi has been ruled out of Argentina's squad announced by the local football federation on Monday for the upcoming World Cup 2026 qualifiers against Chile and Colombia.
The 37-year-old Messi was not included in the 28-man squad after suffering an ankle injury during the Copa America final, which took place in the United States last month.
The Inter Miami player is currently undergoing rehabilitation with his American club.
Also missing from the squad are goalkeeper Franco Armani and forward Ángel Di María, who announced his retirement from international football after winning the Copa America.

Argentina will host Chile at the Monumental Stadium on September 5th before playing against Colombia in Barranquilla five days later.
